Danniella Vian
July 16, 2018 was set to be a monumental day for Danniella Vian. After working double shifts for months to save enough money to purchase her own vehicle, Danniella went down to Pearl Motors in Mobile, Alabama and drove away in a 2014 Chevy Cruz. This was the one of many steps to gaining custody of her daughter and building a life together.
Danniella went out that night with friends to celebrate and left her phone at Dublin’s pub. She flashed a friend she was following to pull over to alert him of her missing phone. They pulled into a closed Shell Gas station where Danniella told him that she lost her phone. He suggested they go back to Dublin’s to look for it. This is the beginning of where questions begin to pile up. This is also the last known time Danniella was alive.
She never made it back to Dublin’s or to the next location they were going to celebrate and 2 days later, her mother would report her missing.
Investigations began and police were able to trace Danniella’s tracks through the GPS system in her car as well as the statement from the friend Danniella was following the night she went missing. Surveillance footage was recovered but it provided very little information as it is terrible quality.
Almost a year later, a dive team was conducting a training exercise in Bayou Sara and happened upon a submerged vehicle with temporary tags from Pearl Motors still attached. They notified authorities who came out and conducted an investigation. They determined the car did belong to Danniella and that there were decomposed human remains inside. The Chevy Cruz was in park and had the emergency brake engaged with the keys in the ignition in the off position. The car was removed from the bayou and the remains were sent for DNA confirmation. The results would comeback in June of 2019 that the remains found inside were that of Danniella and that the cause of death was undetermined. Authorities reassured Danniella’s friends and family that they were still working on her case tirelessly.
However, it seems suspicious that on May 22, 2020 Danniella’s car was posted for auction to a Ukrainian website by the insurance dealership. Danniella’s car was listed as having water damage and sold for $25. One of the backseat seatbelts had been removed and the car was listed as not having keys. Having been the vehicle that Danniella’s remains were found in, is this not a crime scene? Or at the very least evidence? If the authorities are still working on Danniella’s case, why isn’t this car impounded until the investigation is complete? Why did the police auction it off for another site to ship it overseas?
