Caleb Diehl
Caleb Diehl was a hard working, outgoing high school senior when one weekend on a trip to his hometown of Nocona, Texas, he told his sister that he was meeting some friends. Caleb was borrowing a family friend and employer’s pickup truck as his personal vehicle was in the repair shop. Caleb never met with friends or was seen again after March 30, 2015.
When Caleb wasn’t present at school, they notified his mother, Tami who then proceeded to call Caleb multiple times. Always going straight to voicemail. Tami called everyone she knew, friends, family members all calls came with no answers to where Caleb could be. After reporting Caleb missing to local authorities, Tami received a call from Ricky Dale Howard, the family friend and employer who’s vehicle Caleb had been driving, stating the champagne Chevy 2500 had been returned to his shop.
After a search warrant yielded a few questionable items and a discussion with Howard, law enforcement learned that a cell phone was crushed and found near the vehicle but had been tossed into the garbage that had already been collected.
Suspicions remained around Howard for quite some time even though the physical evidence was lacking at this point. Another warrant of Howard’s home found some weapons that Howard, a convicted felon, was not allowed to own. This led to an arrest and Howard bonded out. In 2016, several complaints of aggravated sexual assault against Howard came forward and he would again be arrested.
In 2017, Caleb’s mother found evidence Caleb had been gathering against Howard including an alarm clock with a hidden camera, several handwritten notes with polygraph questions, and a tape of a man practicing the questions.
Why would Caleb save these items unless he had a secret to tell?
